This morning at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, we unveiled the Cadillac Suspension Converj concept car, a luxury touring coupe ? powered by a further development of the Chevrolet Volt’s electric propulsion technology, which we’re now calling Voltec.

The Voltec system currently consists of a 16 kw lithium-ion battery, electric drive unit and a range-extending four-cylinder engine-generator. In the future, the battery could be larger or smaller, and the engine could be larger or smaller as well. That won’t change the concept or the technology of the Voltec system.

The important point to remember when talking about vehicles like Volt and Converj is that electricity serves as the primary power source at all times and all speeds. So when fully charged, the Cadillac Converj air suspension can drive up to 40 miles without using a single drop of fuel or producing any tailpipe emissions.

As someone who has spent considerable time test-driving this technology recently, I can say that the engagement of the four-cylinder engine is seamless and largely unnoticeable.

Another benefit of Voltec technology is the elimination of “range anxiety” – that troublesome fear that happens when the electric vehicle you’re driving is about to run out of juice and there’s nowhere nearby to recharge the battery.

I’ve had personal experience with this, so I know it’s no laughing matter. I have an electric scooter that ran out of juice and stranded me several miles from my house. Because you can’t exactly have someone bring you a can of electricity, I had to call a friend with a truck to come and pick me and the scooter up — an act that largely defeats the purpose of electrically powered transportation!

A Post Prom is an all night, alcohol and drug free party for the Senior Class students, after their Senior Prom.  They usually go “Party Hopping” in their efforts to celebrate with as many of their classmates as possible.  Post Prom events provide a safe alternative to Party Hopping; it keeps the seniors off the roads and prevents any of them from becoming a statistic. It also allows the parents to rest easy knowing their son/daughter is safely celebrating.

The celebration begins immediately after the prom.  The students report to the destination and are locked in until the early morning hours. The Committee, which is made up of the parents of the senior class, organize a fun filled evening that the Seniors will not forget.  They transfer the school into a fairy tale land that they will not recognize.  Usually themed, they transform the hallways, restrooms and other areas into an unrecognized place.  They serve a variety of foods and snacks for the students through out the night. They rent fun attractions, such as Interactive Inflatables, Mechanical Rides, CD Recording Studios, Music Videos and much more to keep the students busy until the early morning hours.  

Some fun rentals may include a Mechanical Bull rental, Laser Tag, Rock Walls, Sumo Wrestling, Giant Slides, Bungee Runs, Velcro Walls, Human Foosball, Human Spheres, Inflatable Derby’s, and 3D Twister.  Another great section could be “An Inflatable Rental Game Room”.

Included in this game room they could have set up a Pool Table, Air hockey, WII’s, Shuffle Board, Skeeball Machines, Pinball Machines, 12 in 1 Arcade’s, and Ping Pong tables.  Then there could be a Photo area. That area could consist of Dancing Heads, Photo Booth’s, Photo Viewers and Photo Key Chains. This could be a great way for the students to take home a souvenir of the night they will talk about for years to come.  There could be live Entertainment walking around through out the night entertaining the students such as Magicians, Hypnotist, Stilt Walkers, Caricatures and Comedian’s.  Some Fun Activity Booths which could include Wax Hands, CD Recording Studio’s, Cash Cubes and Airbrush Tattoo’s. 

In the past, I have used The Event Experts which is located in Folcroft, Pennsylvania.  They are a full service party planning company that handles everything that one could possible want and need to help plan a Post Prom Event. Their employees where very professional and knowledgeable, which made our event a total success.  There was nothing this company could not handle. Their ideas on fundraising were extremely helpful. What are tapeworms?

Tape worms in cats are intestinal parasites. Because they are classified as cestodes, they belong to a different family of worms than hookworms and roundworms (called nematodes).

Tapeworms are internal parasites, infecting all types of mammals, including humans and domestic animals. Their life cycles are very complex. They require one intermediate host and a final or definitive host in which to reproduce. The final host is considered the animal in which the adult tapeworm lives.

The segments, full of eggs, are passed in the pile. While warm, the segments are active, but as they dry, they break open and liberate the eggs inside. Either an adult louse or a flea larva ingests the eggs. The egg develops into an immature form in the insect. When a dog or cat eats the insect, the immature form develops into an adult and the life cycle is completed.

How did my dog or cat get tape worms?

By swallowing a flea infected with a tapeworm larvae.

This process begins when tapeworm eggs are swallowed by flea larvae (an immature stage of the flea). Contact between flea larvae and tapeworm eggs is thought to occur most frequently in contaminated bedding or carpet.

Next, the pet chews or licks its self as a flea bites; the flea is then swallowed. As the flea is digested within the pet’s intestine, the tapeworm hatches and anchors itself to the intestinal lining.

Obviously the secret to never having tapeworms back again is to get rid of the fleas. Unless the fleas are gone, the pets will continue to be reinfested with tape worms.
